I remember when I first joined the Royal Navy, being gay or bisexual was most definitely frowned upon, unlike today where due to an increased awareness of human rights it is no longer the dismissible offence it once was. I had never thought of myself as gay but rather bisexual being attracted to beauty in both females and other young men but even more so in the character of a person.
